Privacy policy

Last updated October 31, 2026. Packtally is a Shopify app made by Music City Labs ("we"). This page explains what Packtally reads from your store, why, and how long it keeps it.

What we read from your store

Packtally is read only. It reads your orders, products, locations and fulfillment orders. From each order it keeps only: the order number and ID, the dates it was placed and shipped, whether it was cancelled or a test, the sales channel, the ship-to state and country, the location it shipped from, the order total, and the products and quantities shipped. From products it keeps titles, SKUs, vendors, types, tags and weights. From locations it keeps the name, state and country and whether the location is a fulfillment service.

What we never keep

Packtally never stores customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, ZIP codes or payment details. It never changes your products, orders or theme.

What you add

You can add your company's legal name, revenue, employee count, brand names, packaging details, product category answers (including Prop 65 chemicals), registration dates, a CAA account number and invoice amounts. When someone agrees to the terms or signs a locked filing, Packtally keeps the name they type, the date and the words they agreed to, as the record of that agreement. Packtally doesn't ask for or store tax IDs. If you turn on the Prop 65 warning block, Packtally saves your warning text to your store as app data so your theme can show it.

Why

We use this data only to work out where your company may owe packaging reports, to count packaging by state and to prepare your reports, filing pack and reminders. We never sell data and never use it for advertising.

Who processes it

Data is stored on servers in the United States run by Fly.io. If you upload an invoice or spec sheet and ask Packtally to read it, the file is sent to Anthropic's Claude to draft packaging details for you to confirm; it is not used to train models. Only the app itself and, when you ask for support, the Music City Labs team can reach your data.

How long we keep it

Locked reports and their evidence archives are kept while Packtally is installed, and every locked report is emailed to you so you hold your own copy (some states expect records to be kept for years). When you uninstall, Packtally stops reading your store, and everything held for your store is deleted 48 hours later, when Shopify tells us to. Download your archives before uninstalling.

Requests from shoppers

Packtally holds no personal details about shoppers. When Shopify passes on a shopper's request to see or erase their data, we confirm that nothing personal is held and remove the listed orders from our order counts.
